Should he leave, or swallow pride?
The gunner wavered, once again too long.
Mystery piqued him, but he was secretly alarmed to note
That Meg O'Brien now held him too
With a slender thread of care. So who's the dude?
He tried to growl. So who's this wondrous guy
Who rode from wee Bangalamoo, into the starry night?

Well, um, it's kind of hard to say,
Stumpy scratched his ear. This bloke turned up at dawn
Bug-eyed from the road, I thought another hoon,
But then he took a hand with that PC --
Things flew. I sat there like a startled chook
And later asked for clues, begged him for a key,
But he just laughed and took off like blue smoke.
