Stumpy and the Decision Tree                                             by Thorold May

A glimmer of hope, the hint of a dawn,
Flickered across the Warrior's face;
So how do we play it, this net of yours?
What makes it fly in the void?
How will it sing the electron's song?
Who will it bind in a noose of light?

Stumpy blinked with a new respect,
This kid had a soul that shone,
But he hid the thought with a wave and a frown,
Pretending for now there were things to be done
With cables and screens and computer bits
In a roped-off corner he called in a flash
Stumpy's Kingdom of the Internet.
